Have you ever thought of auditioning for a job with a Disney or Nickelodeon production? Well, there are a few things you should know before your audition! As a performer myself with Disney Live, Radio Disney, and Nickelodeon at Sea, I am here to give you insight  into  what these types of companies are looking for at their performer auditions. Heres what you need to know about Disney singing auditions and the like Don’t ever pay money for an audition Unfortunately, there are a lot of scams out there that convince  families to pay large advances to so-called agencies to get your  kid seen in front of a Disney or Nickelodeon Casting Director. This is not the way to approach landing a role. If  someone is asking for money just to give your child a chance to be seen, their promises may not be true. Also, you should never pay an agent any money upfront most deals end up at only 10-20% if they actually help you get  contracted work. Presentation is everything For the actual audition, Disney and Nickelodeon hold many casting calls  each year in Orlando, New York City, and Los Angeles. Its common for them to list auditions on websites like  Playbill, Backstage, Walt Disney, and Feld Entertainment. Sometimes there are workshops in these cities where you or your child can participate in a master class with a casting director. Remember: from the moment you walk in the audition room or send your headshot for review, you are being considered for a part! Both Disney and Nickelodeon look for actors who are positive and confident. They don’t want to see you walking in the audition room with your head down and a sourpuss face (even if you are auditioning for a serious role). They want to see a smile, an upbeat personality, and someone who  can hold an intelligent conversation! I suggest wearing a nice, bright-colored outfit to your audition to show you care about your presentation (also,  make sure your clothes are free of logos). Imagine  if you were meeting a friends parents for the first time you want to make a good  impression right from the start! They also want to see that you can work well with others and do not give off a diva-like impression. Maintain a positive image If you are lucky to get a job with  Disney or Nickelodeon, you will be in the public eye. This means that many kids will look up to you as a role model, so its important  that you lead  a healthy lifestyle. Disney and Nickelodeon want to give off a positive, clean, healthy image to kids.  They also do check-ins constantly, so even after  you are hired, you still have to maintain a healthy lifestyle while performing. They are very strict with this, and do not tolerate bad behavior at all. Many well-known actors have been dropped from their TV  show contracts or record labels for not maintaining these lifestyles. Choose an appropriate  song and monologue To work for companies like Disney and Nickelodeon, you also need to  have great energy and high spirits! So, it’s important to show this in your audition. Pick an audition song  that is appropriate for your age and range, and make sure it doesnt include any offensive material. You can  sing a Disney song or use a monologue from one of their movies or  TV  shows for their audition, but I also encourage you to change it up! Research  some old, classic musicals, or even use  some new and currently popular material for your audition. Most audition panels  love funny material, and they love to laugh! They want to see big personalities, and that you would be a fun, lovely person to work with. How Do Disney Auditions Work? There are many different ways you can audition for Disney or Nickelodeon. For example, I made an audition video and sent it into Disney because I was not able to attend an audition in person. In my video I included some clips of past singing, acting, and dancing performances. I finally received an email almost six  months later, asking to do some more interviews  and  auditions over Skype. After another  month, I was finally offered a role with the company! So, it paid off being patient and making that video, because you never know what opportunities are in store for you. How Do Nickelodeon Auditions Work? For Nickelodeon, I attended an audition in person. The audition was a very positive experience, and they took a lot of time getting to know me as a person and not just as an actor. I  spent about an hour with the panel, and they asked to hear me sing, read from a children’s script, and learn and perform  a new dance combination. This is very rare for auditions, as most only last about  two  minutes. At the end of the audition, they offered me a job right on the spot, which started in two  weeks! I was very lucky, as this is not particularly common. I happened to be at the right time and right place for both these auditions. It looks like it’s about mid-point so you still have time to squeeze some summertime fun in. I’d like to share an interesting perspective with you from a career coach’s experience.   It has to do with job seekers and advice.   I’ve compared these experiences with others who have spent much more time focused on job search coaching than I do (my focus is mostly on how to optimize your career or career advancement). I have found that people who are doing a job search are in a constant search for “the” one thing that they are missing that will speed up the process of landing a job.   Usually, the search is for the resume and how to improve it. It’s understandable, once you commit yourself to that arduous process; you just want to get it over. At the same time, the majority of those same people ignore the advice they are given.   Mind you, not everyone does this, but the vast majority.   I find it confusing and frustrating to spend time with someone, sharing your best information on the subject, only to see them ignore it and push on doing the same thing.   This isn’t just happening to me, everyone who does career coaching has this experience.   In fact, one of the leading job search experts told me he stopped doing any individual coaching because he saw this happen so consistently, it was making him cynical â€" and he didn’t want that to happen. When it comes to advice, I can see both sides.   On one side, I don’t think you should ever substitute someone else’s judgment for your own.   I think you can get yourself into trouble if your inner voice tells you to go left when someone else tells you to go right.   On the other hand, I think if you actually seek an expert opinion on something important, you should try to incorporate it into your actions as much as possible (assuming they didn’t tell you to jump off a cliff). If you’re not prepared to pursue someone’s advice: Don’t ask for it.

Law schools not easy, and neither is your future law career. The fact that youve done Teach for America or Habitat for Humanity (on the service-end of things), or that youve been horseback riding competitively since you were six-years-old, or that you opened an Etsy store and have been selling your homemade cufflinks for two years (on the hobby end of things) shows that you know how to commit. (And yes, not all extracurricular activities need to revolve around helping the poor to be impressive.) Rounding Word Problems Rounding numbers coverts large numbers and decimal numbers to simpler forms which are then useful to solve or express in a given question. This concept is commonly used in many word problem and different calculations. Rounding to the tenths place is rounding of a decimal number to the nearest one decimal space. Rounding to the hundredths place is rounding a decimal number to the nearest two decimal spaces. Rounding to the thousandths place is rounding a decimal number to the nearest three decimal spaces and so on. Example 1: The price of each book is $ 15.78. If the shopkeeper sold 13 copies. Find the total money earned by the shopkeeper. Solution: Price of each book = $ 15.78. Number of copies sold by the shopkeeper = 13. The money earned by the shopkeeper = 13 * 15.78 = $ 205.14. Rounding the decimal number to the nearest whole number. Hence the money earned by the shopkeeper = $ 205. Example 2: There are 15 children in the class. 7 of them buy cupcakes and the remaining buy cookies. Each cookie costs $ 1.89 and cupcake costs $2.24. How much did the class spend (round to a whole number)? Solution: Price of each cookie = $ 1.89. Price of each cupcake = $ 2.24. Number of students brought cupcakes = 7 Number of students brought cookies = 8. Amount spent on cupcakes = 7 * 1.89 = $ 13.23 Amount spent on cookies = 8 * 2.24= $ 17.92 The total amount spent = $ 31.15 (Rounding the decimal) Hence, total amount spent = $ 31.

How to Study - Tips and Tricks That Work BobbiM Sep 23, 2015 Sometimes its just the basics that you need to do if you want to learn how to study for exams or tests.  Nothing fancy, nothing special just the basics.  And nothing is more basic than learning how to take good notes and creating note cards that have all the facts, details and specific information that you need for whatever the course may be.  This is really the ultimate way to study for anything to do with spelling or history!  Its cheap, fast, easy and concise and most of all it works! Whats this special tip?  Note cards.Yes, note or index card studying. The best way to do this is throughout the semester as you study at night or at the end of a chapter as you prep for a test or exam.  Ive seen some do it just for finals but its a mind numbing, exhausting and time consuming process if you have to crank out an entire semesters worth of note cards for most courses.  And it takes longer then to do it than it would if you did it as you were going through the chapter initially.  So to save your brain cells for other things and to save time, create your note cards as you move through each topic, chapter, book or lesson.  You will be so glad that you did it that way! Yes, there are fancier ways and more technologically advanced ways of accomplishing the same things.  However, Ive yet to see one that is any faster, easier or less costly.  Nor is there one that I know of that is more effective.  You see this tip requires you to identify the fact, word or concept.  Then you have to write it down and check what you wrote.  So its THREE TIMES that you are going over that one point without even knowing that you are drilling it in that often already.
